Keeping the pulse alive is myself, Jenny Gardner, director-manager of Creative Hat Interpretation. But I much prefer the title of Story Curator, Content Architect.
When I reflect upon my professional life, I see a patchwork of colourful experiences packed with passionate people and the best projects imaginable—the showbag is all mine!
I am a curious person—interested in everything. I think I have been working in interpretation all my life. I am the daughter of a professional puppeteer (and therefore storyteller), my first job was writing trails for parks and for a decade I worked with Zoos Victoria, including an international zoo educator's exchange with San Diego Zoo.
I started Creative Hat Interpretation in the late 1990s and haven't looked back.
I have a B.Ed in art-crafts, a grad dip in natural and cultural heritage interpretation with museums studies and somewhere along the way found time to become a graduate of the National Theatre Drama School. I regularly attend (and deliver at) interpretation and environmental seminars and workshops. I am currently Vice President of our industry group, Interpretation Australia.
I bring research and writing skills, theatre, art and a lifetime of experience in conservation. Add to this, imagination and curiosity which are essential to creative thinking and planning. I look forward to bringing your stories to life!
Kate Lonel came to my attention while working on the Crime and Justice Experience at the Old Melbourne Gaol. She has since proven to be a deft researcher, an 'archaeologist' in unearthing images and a lively tea companion during community consultation. Kate is also a well-seasoned museum curator.
In her Masters, ‘Something Old, Something New’, Kate explored the challenges that small museums face in remaining viable in our infotainment saturated world.
Kate currently works as senior curator with Victoria's Public Records Office on a part time basis (making her an excellent resource), is a member of the Professional Historians Association of Victoria and a past executive member of Interpretation Australia.
